Captain, Simon Weathers introduces his charity for 2021.
My charity is autism together.
For over 50 years, Autism Together has been providing support to people with autism, offering a wide range of residential services, supported living, day servies and community support from their base in Wirral, UK.
They were formed in 1968 when a group of parents established The Wirral Society for Autistic Children, which later became Autism Together.
Many members of Wallasey Golf Club can relate to the challenges and support needed for autistic people. Couple that with the charity's local base and it makes a strong case for adopting Autism Together as the Captain's Charity for 2021.
Lady Captain, Alison Bluck introduces her Captain’s Charity for 2021.
My charity is The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
The charity is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Last summer saw the completion of The Clatterbridge
Cancer Centre in Liverpool which took 8 years to build. Now funding is going to concentrate on the
redevelopment of our local hospital on the Wirral.
Sadly Merseyside has higher rates of cancer and most of us have family members or friends who have
been affected in some way. Funding assists in providing families with the very best care and
development of life-saving treatments.
Having previously completed running and rowing challenges for local cancer based charities I wish to
continue this support by nominating The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as my Lady Captain’s charity -
fundraising to support local cancer patients.
