Welcome to the Junior Section of Wallasey Golf Club.

How the Junior Section works?

The club has a Junior Organiser, who is supported by the Junior Committee. They work to organise competitions and events for the Junior Members and work in conjunction with the Head Professional, Jamie Guy , who is a fully qualified PGA coach, to provide opportunities for coaching.

How many Junior Members are there at the Club?

At the present time (April 2023) we have over 60 Boys and Girls in the Junior Section, as we have been steadily increasing our numbers, despite many of our older Juniors leaving the Section and becoming Full Members once they turn 18 years old. Each year we have a new Junior Captain who will represent the club and all our Juniors throughout the year.

Junior membership is available to boys and girls from the age of 8. Our aim is to provide all our Juniors with a safe, positive and friendly environment to develop their game at their own pace. We always endeavour to create opportunities for young people of all ages.

We have worked hard to produce a Junior Section that we can be proud of and Wallasey GC is recognised within the region as a Club that looks after their young golfers.

What facilities are there?

First and foremost we have an 18 hole Championship Golf Course, the Home of Stableford, which features regularly in the UK's Top 100 Courses and has hosted a wide range of national and international tournaments including Final Qualifying for The Open Championship. In addition to this we have:

• Practice Ground
• Practice Bunkers
• Practice Putting Green
• Practice Chipping Green
• Practice Nets

All our Juniors have full access to the above practice areas.

Junior Coaching and Competitions

Junior coaching sessions take place on summer evenings with our PGA qualified Professional being supported by the Junior Organisers.

The Junior Section arranges a variety of Junior Competitions and Matches throughout the year, to cater for Juniors of all ages and abilities. For the younger Juniors, or those new to the game, we have 9 hole Green Tee Competitions which shorten the course length, removing some of the hazards normally in play off the Tee but still allowing play from fairways and into the Greens. Most weeks there is an 18 hole Stableford or Medal competition, which run from March through to November. We then run a 9 Hole Winter League fortnightly from November through to March.

There is also an opportunity to represent the Junior Team both in matches in the Wirral Junior League and also the Annual Quadrangular Scratch Tournament with our friends from Formby, Royal Liverpool and West Lancashire Golf Clubs.

Junior tee bookings can be made through the website (IG). On Wednesdays, bookings should be before 4pm. On
Saturdays, bookings can be made for times after 1.30pm in the winter, 2.30pm in thesummer and on Sundays after 1.30pm. On public holidays bookings can be made after 2.30pm.

Wallasey Golf Club is a SafeGolf accredited Golf Club. SafeGolf is a partnership of UK golf bodies committed to promoting a safe and positive environment for those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf. 

SafeGolf consists of members from the golfing bodies across Great Britain & Ireland and has been established to help golf respond to the issue of child protection in sport. Its mission is to safeguard the welfare of children and young people, as well as adults at risk, in the sport of golf. This will be achieved through a unique partnership which has the ability to influence and act as advocate for safeguarding across the golfing landscape, developing a consistent approach towards ensuring that all people have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.

The Junior Organising Committee at Wallasey have over 30 years experience of administrating Junior Golf enabling many Juniors to develop to the standard they want to play at whether that be as a career or for continued enjoyment.
